Lawrenceburg, KYBuffalo Trace, the distillery which produces W.L. Weller bourbon, recently honored The La Rue Family with an invitation to speak at its annual celebration of William La Rue Weller, a Master Distiller for whom the eponymous whiskey is named.

Not only is W.L. Weller a descendant of Mary Brooks, he’s also the ancestor of the current William La Rue, son of James D. La Rue Jr.

At the Weller event held in January, Will La Rue of Hodgenville spoke to those assembled about the La Rue Connection noting that W.L. Weller’s parents (and grandparents) are buried at Nolynn Baptist Church in La Rue County.
